Caregiver Massage
Self-care techniques for caregivers
This first session of this two-part class will feature breathing, myofascial stretching and self-massage techniques for caregivers. In the second class we will review those techniques and demonstrate and practice massage on others using household pillows and towels as props. This class is appropriate for anyone dealing with stress in their daily life. Classes will be offered Mondays at 5 PM, Tuesdays at 3:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.
Massage for People Living with Cancer
This class will teach caregivers how to safely massage
loved ones who are living with cancer. A workbook and DVD, developed by William Collinge, PhD, MPH and Tracey Walton, is included with the class. Although the class is taught in English, the workbook and DVD are available in Spanish and Manderin Chinese. There are two versions of this offering. One is for caregivers only and students will practice on each other. The other version is for caregivers to bring their loved ones and practice on the folks with cancer. (There will be special precautions for this option so we can protect those with compromised immune systems). These classes will be offered Tuesdays at 5 PM and Sundays at 3:30 PM
